The ISR Performance Solid Steering Shaft Bushing is a direct replacement for the factory rubber steering shaft bushing on the 1989-1994 Nissan 240SX (S13). Machined aluminum with a gold anodized finish. Eliminates the rubber bushing's flex, which sharpens steering turn-in and improves overall steering response.
What It Does
The factory S13 steering shaft uses a rubber-isolated bushing to dampen NVH between the steering column and the rack. The tradeoff for that isolation is steering feel: every input gets filtered through the rubber, and the bushing flexes under load, which translates to slow turn-in and vague on-center feel. Replacing the rubber bushing with a solid aluminum equivalent eliminates that flex entirely. Steering inputs translate directly to the rack with no rubber buffer.
For a car that's already aged 30+ years, the factory rubber bushing is also probably degraded or torn - even if you don't care about the feel improvement, this is a wear-replacement upgrade.

Tradeoff to Be Aware Of
Eliminating the rubber bushing's NVH isolation means you'll feel more road vibration through the steering wheel than with the factory bushing. This is expected with any solid bushing upgrade and is acceptable for most enthusiasts, but it's worth knowing before installing.
