What It Does

Dimpled plates are a chassis fabrication standard. The dimples around each hole add stiffness to the plate (a flat plate with holes weakens; a plate with dimpled holes is actually stiffer than a solid plate), and the hole pattern lightens the structure while still passing safely tied-into-cage. Making them from scratch requires a dimple die set, a press, time, and the inevitable trial-and-error to get clean uniform holes. These come pre-made: just cut the section you need off the 24-inch length, fit it into your cage or gusset location, and weld.

The 42mm hole size is one of three hole sizes ISR offers in this line, selected based on the visual style and stiffness you want in your fabrication. Smaller holes (20mm) leave more steel and look denser; larger holes (42mm) are more aggressive looking with more weight savings.

Installation Notes

Zinc coating must be sanded off in weld areas. The plates ship zinc-coated to prevent rusting in storage and shipping. Welding through zinc is a health hazard and produces poor welds. sand the coating off any area you plan to weld, both on the plate and on the surrounding chassis steel.
